The JAC website uses AI automatic translation (machine translation). Because it is machine translation, the translation may not always be accurate.
About the automatic translation (machine translation) function
- The website is automatically translated (machine translated) according to the language settings of the device you are using to view the website.

Steps for applying for an exam
Step 1.
Display the list of examinations in Japan
1-1. Display the list of exams in Japan
Tap [Exam] in the bottom menu bar.
A list of exams in Japan will open.


Step 2.
Check the exam details
2-1. Display "Examination Guide"
Tap [Exam Information] for the exam for which you want to check details.
A PDF file will open, so please check the exam information.

Register for the exam
3-1. Check the application conditions
You can apply for exams that have "Applications open" displayed in the upper left corner and a [Apply] button. Tap [Apply] for the exam you want to take.
The "Confirm application conditions" dialog will be displayed, so check the application conditions and tap "Apply".
The following people cannot apply for the exam, so the [Apply] button will not be displayed.
① People who took the exam held in the same month
You cannot take multiple exams in the same month. Please register for the exam held in the following month.
②People who have already applied for an exam
If you have an exam already applied for, you cannot apply for another exam. Please cancel the exam you have already applied for and apply for a new one. You can cancel up until the day before the exam. If you want to cancel your exam, please see the link below.

3) People who have exam results pending
Please reapply after the results have been announced.
④Those who are 16 years of age or younger on the test date
→ Anyone who is 17 years of age or older on the test date can take the test.


3-2. Take a photo of your ID
When using a residence card
"We will take a photo of your residence card."Tap and take a photo of your residence card.
*If there are any defects in the photo, such as the characters on the ID being illegible, your application will not be accepted. If you are unsure, please take another photo.

3-3. Take a photo of your face


Take the following photo:
● Take photos A and B according to the instructions.
● If there is no "anamoji" on the A or B pages of your passport, you will also need to take a photo of page C.

⑫ Check the photos you took.
Once you have completed the check items, check them. Once you have checked all three, tap "OK."
If any of the items have not been checked, tap "Take Again" and take the photo again.

This completes the passport photo shoot.
You will return to the first screen.
Once your photo fits in all three frames, your passport photo shoot is complete.
Tap "Next" below the three photos.
3-3. Take a photo of your face
"Take a photo of your face"Tap. An explanation of what you need to be careful of will be displayed. Read the explanation carefully. Tap the [Start shooting] button to take a photo.
*If there are any imperfections in the photo, such as your mouth being open or there being something in the background, your application will not be accepted. If you are unsure, please take a new photo.

3-6. Display the confirmation screen
Tap [Next] to open the confirmation screen.


3-7. Confirm the information you entered and apply
Scroll down the screen to check if the information you entered is correct. If it is, tap [Apply].
If you want to change the content, tap [Back].
If your application is successful, you will be returned to the exam list screen.
The label in the upper right corner of the exam you have applied for will change from "Not applied for" to "Waiting for application."

Step 4.
Exam application is completed
4-1. Test application is completed
Once your application has been approved by JAC, the label in the upper right corner of the exam you have applied for will change from "Waiting for application" to "Application completed." It may take some time for your application to be approved.

*If your application for the exam is rejected, please see "Step 6. Reapply (if your application is rejected)."

4-2. Confirm the application details
You can also check the details of your application.
Tap [Check application details] for the exam you have applied for to display the application details.
Tap [Close] to return to the exam list screen.


Step 5.
The exam ticket will be issued
5-1. Check the message that the exam ticket has been issued
Once your exam ticket has been issued by JAC, you will receive a message in your app's message list informing you that your exam ticket has been issued.
Open the message and check the contents.
The admission ticket will be issued approximately 10 days before the exam.


5-2. Check your exam ticket
Tap [Examination Ticket] at the bottom of the message to open the examination ticket for the exam you have applied for.
You can also open the Examination Ticket by tapping [Examination Ticket] on the bottom menu bar.
*The official admission ticket will have a countdown in the upper left corner. When it hits 0, it will start over at 60.
The test results will be sent to you by message. Please see the link below for how to view the message.

Step 6.
Resubmit your exam application
6-1. Check the reason for application rejection
If your application is rejected, the label in the upper right corner will turn red and say "Rejected."
Tap [Check message] to see why your application was rejected.


6-2. Reapply.
On the message details screen, tap [Reapply].
The application screen will open, so please enter the information in the same way as from "3-2. Take a photo of your identification document" onwards and reapply.
3-2. Take a photo of your ID
If any of the following apply to you, the [Reapply] button will not be displayed.
① People who took exams held in the same month
You cannot take multiple exams in the same month. Please register for the exam held in the following month.
②People who have already applied for an exam
If you have an exam already applied for, you cannot apply for another exam. Please cancel the exam you have already applied for and apply for a new one. You can cancel up until the day before the exam. If you want to cancel your exam, please see the link below.
Changing or cancelling your exam application (JAC Members)
3) People who have exam results pending
Please reapply once the results have been announced.
