- What is Japan Association for Construction Human Resources (JAC)?
About Japan Association for Construction Human Resources (JAC)
JAC is an organization established by construction industry groups and companies to ensure that all foreign workers with Specified Skills working in Japan's construction industry receive fair wages and treatment.
All companies that hire Specified Skills in the construction industry must join JAC. They must also adhere to the guidelines established by JAC, called the "Common Code of Conduct for the Construction Industry." These guidelines are "promises that companies must adhere to" to make it easier for foreigners with Specified Skills worker status to work and live in Japan. The guidelines are as follows:
- ● Do not hire illegal workers, such as those who have overstayed their visa (a foreigner who has exceeded the period of time allowed to stay in Japan).
- ● Set wages according to skill levels
- ● Do not discriminate against people because they are foreigners.
- ● Respect human rights and do not engage in violence, abusive language, bullying or harassment.
- ● Don't hinder job changes
- ● Support for daily life, etc.
JAC will warn and instruct companies that do not follow these guidelines. If they still do not follow the guidelines, they will not be able to accept foreign workers with Specified Skills. JAC is the only company in Japan that directly supports foreign workers with Specified Skills.
JAC supports specified skilled workers to work, live, and acquire construction skills in Japan!

What does JAC do?
JAC provides educational training and skills tests for foreigners who want to become Specified Skills, job introductions, and guidance to companies that will employ you to ensure a proper work environment. JAC is the only company in Japan that does this. JAC is registered by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as the company which carry out the business of hiring specified skilled workers.
1. Checking and providing guidance on whether wages are being paid appropriately
When you start working as Specified Skills, you may have a lot of worries. That's why JAC will visit the company where you work to check whether you are being paid properly, whether you are allowed to take time off, etc.
The interview will be conducted in a place where no one from the company is present. The interview will be conducted in your native language, so it's okay if you can't say what you want to say in Japanese. JAC will help you work and live in Japan with ease.
If you have any problems, please contact the FITS Mother Tongue Consultation Service. JAC will support you free of charge. Please feel free to contact us.

2. Job introduction (free)
When you were a technical intern trainee, it was difficult to freely change your training company, but with Specified Skills, you can basically change jobs at your own discretion. If you want to change jobs, please use JAC's job placement service. We will support specified skilled workers until they find a new job. There are no placement fees or processing fees (costs for procedures). In addition, JAC's support is free even after you change jobs.
JAC introduces construction companies all over Japan. You can also choose the company you want to work for and apply on the JAC website.
Specified Skills can work in Japan for a maximum of five years. They are free to quit their jobs or return to their home countries. However, under Japanese law, you must tell your company that you want to quit at least two weeks in advance (preferably one month in advance).
Don't just disappear from home without saying anything. Even though you have become specified skilled workers, you may never be able to work in Japan again. If you have any worries, problems, or anything else, don't be fooled by rumors on the Internet, but consult with JAC. If you are having trouble with your coworkers or friends, we will help you find a new job. Don't ever suddenly disappear. Your family wouldn't want that to happen to you.
There are bad people among Japanese people. But there are also many good people. Everyone in Japan is grateful that you are working in the Japanese construction industry with Specified Skills.
3. Conducting skills evaluation exam in the construction field
JAC conducts "skills evaluation exam" to acquire Specified Skills in the construction field.
There are free textbooks on the JAC website. If you want to take the exam, there are textbooks in each language so please study them.
The exam is also held outside of Japan. For more information on locations, please see the Prometric website.

4. Awards for outstanding Specified Skills workers and introduction of the voices of companies accepting them
JAC supports foreign workers with Specified Skills in improving their Japanese language skills and construction skills.
Once a year, there is an opportunity to be recognized by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. This is the "Construction Future Award" held by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, and it recognizes people who have worked hard in Specified Skills. It is a good opportunity to show your family and friends how hard you are working. When the recruitment begins, we will announce it on this website. Please apply.

We also visit companies that actually employ specified skilled workers Specified Skills interview them to find out how the company employees communicate with the foreign nationals and how the Specified Skills nationals feel, and post the results on our website and blog.
We will also introduce many voices from people who say, "After receiving Specified Skills, I worked hard at this kind of job."
